All of those sharp points reminiscent of bat wings give her a tinge of rock and roll edge, so I landed on the name Helena (after the MCR classic, of course) and staged her with @freddienelsonofficial‘s Gibson, because this is a music first household. 💀 ⁣

I took a little late winter break from grid-posting (it’s necessary for all of us from time to time), but I am totally feeling energized by the equinox and came to the realization recently that almost all major “beginnings” in my life have happened in the spring. 🌱 What about you guys? We are all inherently aligned with the planet, of course, but how many actually LIVE that way? If you look back on the events in your life, you may be surprised at the timing. ⏳ ⁣

One of the questions I get asked most often is “

One of the questions I get asked most often is “Do you decorate your home the way you stage your furniture?” 🤔 While there are similarities, I would say the answer is no, not so much! We have a late 1800’s farmhouse so I try to stay true to the style of the house while also incorporating my love of dark and moody things. 🥀 ⁣
⁣
For example, this bedroom is a balance of dark and light, using color and texture without overdoing either. The clean lines of the bed frame are softened by repeating circular mirrors and ruffled half moons in the bedspread. The strongest color in the room is on the walls, everything else is neutral and complimentary. While I have a healthy amount of trinkets and accents, true maximalism makes my brain cluttered, so I keep it in check. 👻⁣
⁣
I use the furniture staging as a way to create a different world, one that I am able to step into and back out of, rather than living there all the time. I like to think of it as my dream Victorian mansion that exists somewhere in the ether. 💫 ⁣
⁣
Someday maybe my worlds will collide, but for now, I dunno, I kinda love wearing different hats. 🎩 💁🏻‍♀️⁣

One question I am often asked is “Where did the idea for Haunte come from?” The extended answer is quite literally life-long, but I will try to condense:⁣
⁣
I started painting furniture about 10 years ago, but only as a hobby. In 2019, I found myself in a position to allow some professional doors to close and let others open, so I took that chance, enjoyed a summer off full of gardening, reading, and grounding my energy. Then, the idea for Haunte came all at once in a stream of consciousness over the course of four days. Whether it came from spirit or from my higher self, I’m not sure, but it happened so intensely that I couldn’t get it on paper fast enough. ✍️⁣
⁣
The core of the idea was this: Take the life altering experiences you have had with death and the paranormal and combine it with your love for aesthetics and interiors. Create functional art that has layers of meaning - allow people to choose the depth at which they want to be involved. ⁣
⁣
Some of you are here because the photos look pretty. Some of you are here because you want to learn to paint or decorate. And some of you are here because you are drawn to the underlying energy and have found a kindred spirit. 👻⁣
⁣
After that initial blast of inspiration, it took a few months before I was ready to launch, but in the interim I was hunting down old furniture. The first few pieces I found ALL came from girls my age who had recently lost their father. It was like I was effortlessly being guided to people that needed help in exactly the same way that I did 15 years ago. More have followed since, some I have remained close to and have passed messages onto, hopefully helping them heal. ⁣
⁣
Don’t get me wrong, I love to create, but connecting with other people (especially those in need) is really what this is all about. ⁣
⁣
I believe that part of our experience as humans on earth is having the option to choose different paths, and if we listen closely, we are guided to the ones that allow us to reach our highest potential - not measured by money or success but by FEELING. 💫 ⁣

That’s why I’m here right now, and hopefully it’s why you are, too. ⁣

One of the things I love most about this endeavor is having the freedom to incorporate all of the things that have inspired me artistically throughout my life: movies, music, art, fantasy, dreams, fairytales, realms - whether it be through naming the pieces, staging them, or in this particular example, collaborating with the new owner on how, exactly, to bring the piece to life. ✨⁣

If you’ve been watching my stories, you know I’ve been working on a magnificent lions head 🦁 table for a lovely customer in Texas. Most of the time, I name the pieces myself, but in this case, she was very involved in the creative process so I asked her to join in. While tossing around ideas involving lions, we were naturally led to Oz….but not the colorful Oz, the darker 1985 sequel “Return to Oz” - a staple of my childhood. ⁣
⁣
Set in the year 1899, Dorothy returns to Oz to find the Emerald City in ruins, and embarks on an adventure to save it. Along the way, she finds a magical substance called the “Powder of Life” which gives life to anything it is sprinkled on. While reminiscing about the movie, I thought it would be fun to create a replica and incorporate it into the staging. The customer dug deep in the corners of the internet, found the original Victorian era artwork 📜 and voila - it became a reality. ⁣
⁣
It was a true collaborative effort to sprinkle life onto this piece, and I thought it would be fun to give a little insight into the deeper creative process before I reveal the final result in a few days! ⁣

As most of you know, I do not consider myself a religious person. I don’t go to church, I don’t practice witchcraft, I don’t participate in rituals, I don’t really follow astrology, or anything with a structure. I’m not opposed to any of it, it’s just the way I live my life. I pick up bits and pieces of everything in observation, but I guess overall you could say I am spiritually neutral.⁣
⁣
What I DO put credence into, however, is energy and vibration. Everything we experience as three dimensional humans comes down to these two things. How we feel, we what like, what we dislike, how we spend our time, etc. ⁣
⁣
What I have consciously observed over the past decade of being awake, are relentless “pointers” to the year 2020. Freddie and I have been shown this number over and over again for years until we couldn’t help but acknowledge it. As this year unfolded, I understood why. ⁣
⁣
On 12/21/2020, the winter solstice and fated “end times” date from the Mayan calendar, Jupiter and Saturn aligned at 0 degrees in Aquarius and conjunct to form the “Star of Bethlehem” for the first time in 800 years. 🌟 How many dogmas were referenced in that sentence? Is it coincidence that at the end of such a prophetic year, which has forced all us ALL to look inward, that the stories of traditional Christian religion overlap with a major cosmic event in astrology on the pagan Yule holiday which happens to fall on a significant calendar date from an ancient polytheist civilization? No, it’s not coincidence. There is no such thing. ⁣
⁣
It’s almost as if....✨THE MESSAGE IS THE SAME.✨ It is finally time for us to stop being so divided and understand that it all simply comes down to ENERGY. We are all striving for the same thing - to be loved, happy, and free. ⁣
⁣
It’s not as out of reach as it seems. 💫
