There was a long period of time circa 2018 where I There was a long period of time circa 2018 where I felt like every spare moment of my time had to be spent making music, practicing, or performing when really all I wanted to be doing was working on the house. I finally came to the realization that ✨IT’S ALL ART✨. And art is just creative ENERGY that can move through different channels, decor being just as valid a channel as music. To bring that full circle, when your living space and vibration align, it makes it much easier for inspiration to flow to other creative outlets. Luckily the client and I were on the same page with this one - I didn’t want to cover all of the burled walnut, but she needed an update and @anniesloanhome Amsterdam Green @chalkpaint was the perfect compliment to her existing warm tones! One of the questions I get asked most often is “ One of the questions I get asked most often is “Do you decorate your home the way you stage your furniture?” 🤔 While there are similarities, I would say the answer is no, not so much! We have a late 1800’s farmhouse so I try to stay true to the style of the house while also incorporating my love of dark and moody things. 🥀 ⁣ ⁣ For example, this bedroom is a balance of dark and light, using color and texture without overdoing either. The clean lines of the bed frame are softened by repeating circular mirrors and ruffled half moons in the bedspread. The strongest color in the room is on the walls, everything else is neutral and complimentary. While I have a healthy amount of trinkets and accents, true maximalism makes my brain cluttered, so I keep it in check. 👻⁣ ⁣ I use the furniture staging as a way to create a different world, one that I am able to step into and back out of, rather than living there all the time. I like to think of it as my dream Victorian mansion that exists somewhere in the ether. 💫 ⁣ ⁣ Someday maybe my worlds will collide, but for now, I dunno, I kinda love wearing different hats. 🎩 💁🏻‍♀️⁣
