In the 19th century, exposure to copper would have been an early version of constantly sanitizing one’s hands!

There was a fascinating article posted yesterday about Victorian Era physician Victor Burq and his research on the anti-microbial properties of copper and it’s alloys.  In the mid 1800s, people who worked with copper (i.e. jewelers, boilermakers, goldsmiths) were able to avoid the Cholera epidemics without even trying!⁣

Yet another reason we making our copper candelabras! ⁣
