In the 19th century, exposure to copper would have been an early version of constantly sanitizing one’s hands!
There was a fascinating article posted yesterday about Victorian Era physician Victor Burq and his research on the anti-microbial properties of copper and it’s alloys. In the mid 1800s, people who worked with copper (i.e. jewelers, boilermakers, goldsmiths) were able to avoid the Cholera epidemics without even trying!
Yet another reason we making our copper candelabras!
